PARTING POWDER
Parting Powder is an Alumino Silicate refractory powder with a size grading similar to baking
flour (200#)
The powder is given a waterproof non-hygroscopic coating to prevent moisture pick. Parting
powder is dusted onto a pattern loosely to give complete coverage. Once the sand is packed
onto the pattern the Parting Powder acts as a Separating Agent preventing the pattern and the
sand from sticking to one another.
Loose Parting powder is blown off the mould and pattern. Any Parting Powder adhering to the
mould is not detrimental to the mould, to the coatings applied to the mould, nor the metal
entering the mould cast.
